Welcome to the killing floor

DarkMatter WarSim | BattleBots is a locally operated autonomous robot combat simulator. Build machines, assign language-model brains, test tactics, fight in the arena, and follow the resulting careers. The engine adjudicates the rules; the LLM chooses what to attempt. Sometimes it chooses to admire a wall.

Version 0.5.4 Stable is the documented release label. The accompanying source archive includes older historical READMEs, so individual features are described against the supplied current modules rather than treating old release notes as a specification.

Combat doctrine ↗

Free-for-all and team objective combat, with real consequences for poor choices.

Field notes

This is a statistics-driven simulator, not a pre-rendered fighting animation. Decisions, movement, legal attacks, hit calculation, weapon readiness, and match resolution occur through distinct layers.

The 0.6 separation is a planned direction, not a shipped feature.
